    Now that the FM clutch parts are out of stock for a long time, how do I get a clutch disc for my NB level 1 clutch to replace my exploded disc? One of the springs exploded out of the housing. What other clutch discs are an exact replacement for the PM Comp Clutch disc? It seems like the PM disc is thicker than other discs, maybe? Are there more durable discs out there? I know of another person that has had their FM clutch disc explode like this. I know that this is not a recent video, but I can hope that my comment is seen..... The FM person that answers the phone had no idea what I should do, and no information. Help.

      Sorry for the delays! Our clutch kit is built around stock sized 1.8 clutch components, so any 1.8 disc should work with our flywheel and pressure plate - with that being said, I'm afraid we don't have one to recommend. If you're comfortable with waiting for ours to restock, you can sign up to be notified when they come back by clicking the "Notify when available" button on the product listing.

    Is lubricating the joints on your NA soft top advisable? If so should it be all of them, or just some? Also what lubricant should be used? If not I have seen it shown that the top can be "easily" pulled up from the driver's seat. So why isn't mine when it is quite easy from outside the car? My clutch doesn't slip but when it's warmed up it shudders from a stop. My mechanic is sure it's the clutch because if it's the transmission it would do it cold too. The engine was just built by the previous owner with forged internals and a fresh clutch. Maybe he didn't replace the flywheel and it has hot spots? It's totally driveable when cold and on the open road but uphill in traffic is a pain. Any chance it's the clutch adjustment?

    Can you fine adjust the heights of each corner on one hub stand? In order to make it perfectly level. I don't like zeroing out the angle gauge cause it could be somewhat inaccurate.

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo 2 дня назад

      You want to make sure the surface the hub stands are sitting on are level. Squares of linoleum make good shims if you have to raise a corner to make everything level. The stands themselves are not adjustable for height, because that introduces error.

    Is there a mile per hour which makes sense to turn off your radiator fans and let natural air flow do its thing ?

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo 2 дня назад

      @DarkDMD Incoming airflow will eventually outflow the airflow the cooling fans can pull, yes! However the speed at which this occurs will vary depending on the car, fan/shroud design, bumper style, etc. This is why our Airflow kits have those little rubber flaps in the shroud; when incoming air has enough velocity, it will force those flaps to open.

It's awesome and makes the whole car feel rigid as the wheel doesn't feel thin and flimsy like the OEM. I got the carbon fiber version which is just pure eye candy. Worth it in my opinion given that the steering wheel is the most used part of the car.

    I drive an 06 with upgraded internals and a tune with an upgraded cross flow Aluminum radiator and new stock fan so generating more heat than stock under load as still naturally aspirated. I have the Banks I-Dash gauge that will display the " real " temp of the coolant rather than the gauge that has been fuddled with like the oil pressure gauge. My question is, at what temperature does the gauge register too much heat and start moving up? In slow traffic or sitting idling, I can see the temp rise from 190 to as high as 227 so far. The gauge does not move so I am assuming that this is still considered in the "normal range". Without pressure, ( +1lb = +3 degrees ) this is already the general boiling point of the coolant so what temperature should I be worried about to not cause damage? I would like to monitor this as proactively as possible and just not let it get to the " too high" point. I may need to seal the edges around the new fan and the radiator to better contain the air flow and see how it affects this but I keep a close eye on it.

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo 2 дня назад

      We like to see temps stay below the 230 degrees F (110 C) mark to avoid damage, however the stock gauge doesn't start moving until about 240 degrees F (114 C). Sealing your fan to the radiator is always a good idea. You might also try a higher distilled water to coolant ratio, since water dissipates heat better than anti-freeze coolant. We generally stick with a 70/30 mixture, which should have freeze protection down to about 0 degrees F.

    Is the 2006 Miata reliable? I see them much cheaper than the NC2 Miatas-pretty much the same price as a NB.

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo 2 дня назад

      Ultimately, yes: The 2006-2008 "NC1" Miatas are still great, reliable cars. Our main best guesses for the lower prices are: 1. They're simply older cars 2. The aesthetics aren't as popular as the later versions 3. The engines on all NC1 Miatas didn't come with forged internals, which means a lower red line and potentially slightly less reliable if you're planning on throwing gobs of boost at it (although, if you keep this conservative, even the NC1 engines should be fine.) If you see an NC1 for a good price and in otherwise good shape, I say go for it.

    • @treeskier802
      @treeskier802 2 дня назад

      Thanks. I’m kind of cross shopping the NC1 and an NB. NB is really fun. I am in the minority but think I like the front fascia of the NC1 over the NC2-but it’s splitting hairs. Both are great. The Miata really is a car where there isn’t a bad looking one. I’m hoping as we enter September I may find a great deal. Thanks so much for your input.

    For the cross flow Rad. Is the fan a similar wattage? I have read about folks replacing fans for stronger ones and it ends up causing alternator issues so would the cross flow need a beefier alternator? Would you recommend just stock fans for an Al drop in?

    • @joejoepop
      @joejoepop 4 дня назад

      The big spal fans have caused me all kinds of problems trying to tune around the massive voltage drop when they kick in, but it's not the cross flow rad, it's an electrical issue. I really wish FM would address this issue, maybe a two step fan controller or something?

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo 2 дня назад

      All of our fan kits will pull more amps than the stock fans at some point. Our Stage 2 brushless fan kit has a soft start feature to reduce the initial shock (pun intended) on the electrical stuff. On an otherwise good condition stock charging system, good battery, and proper installation per our instructions, your NA or NB Miata should handle this fine. @joejoepop It sounds like something else may be going on. Please contact our customer support department for some troubleshooting tips.

    What thermostat should I get on my completely stock 1994 Miata? I feel like I do run into some heating issues

      You can run a 180 degree thermostat and still have a functioning heater in the winter but I wouldn't go any cooler than that. First off, I'd check the basics like how dirty is the radiator core, and make sure you have your splash pan on. Shoot us an email if you want more details.

    What can be done to isolate the footwells from so much interior heat from the engine compartment?

      Our DEI insulation kit and DEI shield are both excellent options to remedy this issue: flyinmiata.com/products/dei-titanium-heat-shield?_pos=1&_sid=4125fdaa5&_ss=r flyinmiata.com/products/dei-na-nb-insulation-kit?_pos=2&_sid=4125fdaa5&_ss=r

    Two questions: 1. I was considering LED taillights for my NB2 Miata, but was wondering if doing so would have a negative effect on my cruise control, since the LED taillight reacts faster than an analog one and the brake light circuit is what, as I understand it, cancels the cruise control. 2. I purchased LED side lights (the ones on the fenders) for my NB2, but the stock side lights in the rear are just reflectors. Which taillight wire should be tapped into to power the rear side lights?

      To answer your first question, having LED lights in the two rear fender assembles won't cause an issue but if you replace the third brake light with an LED it will. So, that's when you'd need to run a resistor-type LED in the third brake light. Keep in mind, I'm always referencing parts that we sell so, results might be different with brand X. For your second question, you'll need to reference a wiring diagram or just find the wires that go to the parking light circuit and splice into them. You should be able to find a 194 bulb base to fit the corner lights at your local auto parts store.

    Great great video! Very honest from someone selling car mods, big credit to FM!! Engineering a car like the Miata is extremely complex and Mazda knows how to get the right balance like no one, or the Miata wouldn't be around anymore, certainly not after 35 years. For the street, for the fun, out of the box these are truly wonderful. Trying to improve them for the street on your own or by watching RUclips, the odds of getting it worse are at least 80%. So listen to people who are experienced and think twice before you pull the trigger !

    So great to meet you guys in person. Please tell me you didn’t pull the car trailers up the Dragon!?

      Of course not! The trailers have to come in from the south east. It’s not exactly a straight road, but it’s better.

    I sold the Miata, but if you are allowing a Porsche on the ride then I am going to have to go next year in the RX-7. At least it is still family.

    Is there a cost to join the summer camp?

      @FlyinMiataVideo 7 дней назад

      Depends on what you do. There is a cost for the track days and another if you want to partake in the meals. If you just want to hang out and talk and look at stuff, no charge!

      Yes, it was $79 this year before options. The base cost covers the food also. Keep checking FM's website starting in Feb/Mar 2025 for info on the 2025 event.

    Man I really like those 2013-14 clubs. It’s really what I want. But I found a deal on an 09 sport 5 speed. Can you the turbo on the 5 speed? You guys are great. I hope to use some of your products once I get a car. I just need to grit the teeth and spend the money. It sucks being frugal and wanting a sports car. Haha. Thanks for another great video.

    Thank you so much for the video. I installed a wheel on a 2024 MX-5. A note: The steering wheel controls are different for a 2024 than years previous.
